names, names, names

A name is a big deal... as Brent and I share names we like with each other we have very few we can agree on when it comes to boys. Boy names being the hardest to agree on because Brent "knew" someone with that name and wasn't a fan, or something... So... As we page through baby name books and all the online resources it almost becomes to stressful!

Girl name I think we'll be fine with if it's a girl... we have a hnadful that we both like, but boy names, might be a game time decision at the rate we are going. Yes, we still have a lot of time to think about it, but as much as we change our minds on the boy names, others around us naming their babies the names we liked and had on our short list, and many of the great names of the world already given to family members, this could be interesting! :)

You think of all the unique names out there in the world. We're thinking we'd like to go less traditional, but don't want something that will be awful in 10 years! :) The picture above makes me laugh because as we look through names even we sometimes think, 'Someone really named their kid THAT?".... As we search names for girls and boys we are trying to see them with that name at all stages of their life.

1. The cutesy little baby stage- where a "y" is always added to the end to make it sound more "cute"
2. How their name sounds sternly for those terrible two's -- and years to follow.
3. How their name sounds as a middle schooler trying to fit in.
4. The sound of their name being called for sports, "Baaaaaabbbbby Oolllsssoon!"
5. How about the sound of the name at graduation.
6. How does it sound as a boyfriend/girlfriend.....wife/husband.
7. The sound of their name as a parent.
8 The sound of their  name as a grandparent and older person.

Can you see the stress it takes to pick a name!!!! (most of you have been here done that)
This is going to be with them FOREVER and help identify who they are! Ugh. Venting over. :)

We'll let you know what we come up with after delivery! :)

We had a very hard time with boy names too!! Luckily we only had one :) I couldn't stand the name Cody when Jalon first said it, I knew someone... Brent's neighbor actually. But it was my Dad's middle name, and it grew on me. Whatever you decide on will be great, and trust me a couple years down the road you won;t be able to imagine them as anything but a "Cody" :)
Good Luck!!
