This is a banner that was hanging downtown boston back in May...
Can you believe that it was already 9 years ago the twin towers fell and so many people's lives were affected by an act of terrorism?... I remember sitting in Algebra when the first plane hit and one of our high school teachers running and and telling us to turn on the news. What a terrible day. 2,996 people died because of this act of terrorism and thousands suffered from a loss of a loved one. My heart breaks for all of those people.
Now, we turn to our hero's who continue to fight for our freedom, for our country, for our lives. Its hard to believe that the war has been going on for 9 years... all of the hero's that have gone into battle, who have gone over sea's away from there homes, families, friends to defend us. What a huge gift. How lucky we are to have those brave men and women fighting for our safety. If you aren't involved in the military in some way you really don't get it completely.( I was one of those people before I was with Brent) You know that people have to go overseas, put their lives in danger, but you never really get it until you are part of it.
Being married to Brent has opened my eyes a lot to the war, the government, deployment. It is a very common thing for people to get deployed. VERY COMMON. Sometimes its 6 months, sometimes its a year... just depends. Sometimes you go into dangerous areas, and other times you are on a more secure location. The bottom line is this is what these men and women signed up for, to defend our country however they are needed. Its a really uncomfortable feeling, but they knew what they were signing up for. NOW, let me just say that I pray every single day that Brent gets through his five years without deploying anywhere over sea's!!! EVERY DAY, you can be praying for that too please. Right now we have four very close people to us over sea's and its hard to know they are away from family and friends for so long. We have Jordy who has gone over more than once, currently our friend Matt Bader is over in Kuwait, Frank Schiavone is just headed to Kuwait today, and Josh Schaffer is in Afghanistan. (Matt, Frank, and Josh were all hockey players with Brent at the academy) It hits close to home when you have people in your family or friends who are active duty and deployed. We pray for all of those guys that they remain safe during there deployment and can't wait to get them all home! A big thank you for everything the military does for our country.
