Remembering September 11th, 2001

The September 11 attacks were a series of coordinated suicide attacks by Al-Qaeda upon the United States on September 11, 2001. On that morning, 19 Al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners. The hijackers intentionally crashed two of the airliners into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, killing everyone on board and many others working in the buildings. Both buildings collapsed within two hours, destroying nearby buildings and damaging others. The hijackers crashed a third airliner into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C. The fourth plane crashed into a field near Shanksville in rural Pennsylvania, after some of its passengers and flight crew attempted to retake control of the plane, which the hijackers had redirected toward Washington, D.C. There were no survivors from any of the flights. About 2,976 people died on September 11th, 2001.

After the attacks the "War on Terrorism" started. It's been 8 years today we've had troops over sea's. Around 4,294 American's killed serving for our country.

My heart goes out to the families that have lost love ones during these eight years and the families that have love ones currently over sea's and for the families in the Military.

Being a Military wife, I just pray everyday for the safety of Brent. In a blink of an eye he could be asked to go over seas. We pray for Jordan, who has been over seas a number of times fighting for his country. We are so thankful he is back on American soil now. And pray for him everyday he is over seas. We think of Arlen who has been serving for some time now as well. We also think of Jay and John and how there next many years are committed to the Army as well.

We are so thankful for those who fight for our country, and we hope someday soon we can bring our troops home to their families and friends. The Tribute in Light. Where the two towers use to stand.

Recent Event: Yesterday Brent was telling me that everyone was called outside at work to stand and salute a 22 year old man who was killed in Iraq. The procession of the hearse and the families following was very emotional. Our hearts go out to that family who lost there young love one during this war.

Most of us remember where we were at the time of the attacks. It's like the world almost stopped for a moment. Do you remember where you were?

4 or so months pregnant with Alyssa. It was a rainy day here, I believe, so Jared was home relaxing for the morning. Drinking his coffee he watched it all happen live on the news channels. I was still in bed when he woke or hollered for me to come watch.

I too was pregnant with Briann, and in bed after a long night at work at the hospital, when Jalon called and woke me up. I sat in my basement and watched the second plane hit and then listened and watched as we all learned about the other two planes at the pentagon and the field in pennsylvania.

i was on my way to school - had an 8:00 class and was just pulling in the parking lot when the radio program broke for "breaking news". they were still confused as to what was happenining. i went in to class and told the girls what i had heard, so we turned on the tv and sat there the rest of the day and just watched in horror. i was supposed to work across the street at the mall that afternoon, but the mall closed down for the day and i just went home and watched tv all day and almost all night. i remember it being so eerie to not hear any planes flying overhead as they had all been grounded.
