Annual Awards

Last night was the annual Fiscal Year 2011 awards dinner and Brent was one of four nominees for the Company Grade Officer Award. It's a huge honor and he was up against some great competitors. Wednesday-Friday was filled with "treats" for all of the nominees. They went to the state house, toured the sports museum at the TD garden, got to watch the Lakers practice at TD Garden, Sam Adams Brewery Tour, Beacon Hill Monument, along with many other fun things that Boston has to offer.

The dinner is a very nice formal event. All of the nominees are recognized by having their name called and and the name of who is escorting them! (Seemed very much like reliving high school prom, except Brent took me home at the end of the night this time!! :-) ha- and also a mix of ring dance at the Academy which was a lot of fun!) There was a beautiful dinner, music played by the military band, and great company.
Before the dinner each nominee was awarded with a medal from Base Commander Col. Yike. As Brent and I got up to accept his medal Col. Yike looks at Brent and says, "Are you seriously chewing GUM!!" Luckly, it came with a smile from Col. Yike- but it caught us all off guard and for a second hold our breath. Brent probably SHOULD have swallowed the gum but instead he quickly spit it into his hand. Let's just say he didn't shake hands with Col. Yike after accepting his medal! :) aww.. that will be a memory we keep forever.

So Brent didn't win, but everyone was so proud of him and his accomplishments. It's fun to see him at an event like this because although Brent isn't necessarily the type of person who likes to be in a crowd, he really does make friends easily and from all over the base. He makes me so proud and even though he didn't win the annual award, he's won my heart forever! :)

I love you Lt. Olson :)

WOW,you both look so nice!
Thank you for bloging these things Lisa or we would never know. Even though he didn't get the award, it still gives them something to work towards. Rewards are great incentives at any age. You are just a lovely compliment to Brent. You certainly complete him and I know he knows that. Thank you for being such a loving and supporting wife. That's what we wives were created for, and you are a great example of that. Love you guys. Mom
